Partial Forgiveness for medical student has been passed by legislative houses
Washington---- A bill has been passed last month by legislative houses in which provision has been inserted to revolutionize federal government student loan programs for allowing medical specialists with 5 or more years of graduate medical education to qualify for $2, 000 in loan forgiveness annually for serving in required areas. The amount of $10, 000 would be granted for five years of relevant services.Earlier the average debt amount for medical student graduates is almost $140, 000 has been extracted according to consideration of American Medical Association. But now burden would get a little lighter for some medical students with the provision which has lastly passed by legislative houses.
According to words of Michael j. Ehlert, MD, AMSA President and recent graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland has pronounced that “The American Medical Student Assn. is very grateful for the provision but said that it is only a small step which has been taken for solving such a large and complicated problem.
